Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck is the fifth and current Druk Gyalpo (King) of Bhutan. He was born on ****. He ascended the throne in 2006 after his father, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, abdicated. King Khesar is known for his commitment to democratic reforms and Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness philosophy. He is married to Jetsun Pema, and they have two children.
